Privacy policy
What we hold, where we keep it, who can see it, and how to get it deleted.
The short version
We hold what a fabric business needs to keep its own records: who works there, what stock it has, what it sold, and for how much. We do not run analytics on you, we do not show ads, and we do not sell anything to anybody.
What we collect
- Names and phone numbers of owners and staff.
- The business's name, address and phone number.
- The shops and warehouses it operates from.
- Stock, cost prices, selling prices, sales, and cash records.
- For credit sales, the names and phone numbers of the customers who owe money.
- For stock taken on credit, the names and phone numbers of suppliers.
- The name and phone number of a customer who agrees, at a sale, to hear about new stock on WhatsApp — and a record of the messages the shop says it sent them.
- A phone-alert registration for each signed-in phone, held by Google Firebase Cloud Messaging, so the app can send you its alerts.
- Photographs of fabrics.
About customers who are not our users
There are two times a person who has no WetinSell account ends up in your records. The first is a credit sale, where you enter their name and phone number so you know who owes you. The second is a customer who agrees, at the counter, to hear about new stock on WhatsApp.
In both cases you take the agreement, not us, and the record keeps who took it and when. The customer can tell you to stop at any time and the shop must stop; no further messages go out after that. You decide what to enter and why; we hold it for you and do nothing else with it. Only enter what you actually need, and tell your customer about it if they ask.
Why we hold it
To run the app for your business, and for nothing else. We use it to show your records to you and your staff, to keep sales attributed to whoever made them, and to answer you when you ask us for help.
We do not run advertising. We do not use analytics or tracking software. We have never sold your data and we will not.
Signing in
You sign in with a code sent to your phone by SMS, through Google Firebase Authentication. Firebase may run a check — reCAPTCHA, or Google Play’s own — to confirm a real person is asking, rather than a machine.
Where your records are kept
Your records are stored with Google Firebase, on servers in the European Union. That means your information leaves Nigeria and is held abroad. We use Firebase because it is a well-established service with strong protections, and Google handles that data on our instructions, not for its own purposes.
Who can see your records
- You, and the staff you invite — each of them sees what their role allows.
- Our own people, only when it is needed to keep the service running or when you ask us for help.
- Nobody else, unless the law requires it of us.
Deleting your account and your records
You can have your account and everything in it deleted, and you do not need the app to do it. Write to support@wetinsell.com with the name of your business, if you have one, and the phone number you sign in with. We reach you on that number to check the request is really yours before anything is deleted.
Deleting an owner's account deletes the business and everything in it: shops and warehouses, items and stock, sales, cash and credit records, supplier and customer records, photos, staff invitations that were never accepted, phone-alert registrations, and the accounts of the staff who belong to that business. A staff member can delete their own account on its own — their sign-in and personal details go, while the records they entered stay with the business that owns them and still show who recorded them.
We finish within 30 days and tell you when it is done. We keep no copy afterwards, unless the law requires us to hold a particular record, in which case we will tell you what and for how long.
The full steps are on the account deletion page.
Your rights under Nigerian law
This policy is written to follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Under that Act you may ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it is wrong, ask us to delete it, or object to the way we are handling it. Write to support@wetinsell.com.
If you think we have handled your information badly, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Changes to this policy
The date at the top says when this policy last changed. If a change matters to you, we will tell you in the app or by WhatsApp.
